In high school I spent a couple years as a kindergarten Sunday school teacher. Each Sunday I would help wrangle between 10 and 25 toddlers.

I often led the songs, which the kids loved. One of the songs we often sang was a simple way of encouraging kids toward discipleship. It went: Read your Bible pray everyday and you’ll grow, grow, grow. Don’t read your Bible forget to pray and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink.

我常常領唱孩子們喜歡的歌曲，我們經常唱的一首歌是鼓勵孩子成為門徒的簡單方法，歌曲內容是這樣的：每天讀聖經祈禱，你就會成長、成長、成長。不讀聖經，忘記禱告，你就會退步、退步、退步。

The song puts it a little too simply, but it is not off by much. It may sound too simple but that is because following Jesus is simple.

歌詞說得有點過於簡化，但也沒有差太多。這聽起來可能太簡單了，但那是因為跟隨耶穌很簡單。

That sounds surprising, especially if you know how much has been written about Christianity. The volumes of history, theology, and lessons for practical living could be stacked to the moon and back. How could that be simple?

這聽起來令人驚訝，尤其是如果你知道有多少關於基督教的著作，這些關於歷史、神學和實際生活教訓的書籍，數量多到可以堆放高達到月球的距離。那怎麼可能這麼簡單？

It is true that there are endless questions to consider and points of theology to discuss. Yet, when a theologian came to Jesus and asked him how someone can born again, Jesus gave a simple answer:

確實，有無窮無盡的問題需要探究，以及神學要點需要討論。然而，當一位神學家來問耶穌如何能重生時，耶穌給了一個簡單的答案：

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

神愛世人，甚至把他的獨生子賜給他們，叫一切信他的，不至滅亡，反得永生。

So simple.

就這麼簡單。

At the heart of it all is Jesus Christ saying to me, saying to you, “come to me”. Come to me out of your hardship. Come to me, my burden is light. Come to me for I’m the way. Come to me, for I will give you the kingdom.

這一切的核心是耶穌基督對我說、也對你說：「到我這裡來」。來找我吧，擺脫你的困難。到我這裡來，我的擔子是輕省的。來找我吧，因為我就是道路。到我這裡來吧，因為我會把王國給你。
