Director Ou, Li-Jen

Distinguished Professor & Director of Chaplain’s Office

Word from the Director

The founding of Chung Yuan Christian University is based on the love of Christ for the world, dedicated to higher education in Taiwan. In addition to imparting academic knowledge and skills, the university also emphasizes the holistic development of students to cultivate leaders who exemplify “whole-person excellence.” Therefore, in 1972, the university established the Chaplain’s Office to collaborate with various departments, aiming to achieve the goal of comprehensive education through the holistic perspectives of “heaven, humanity, material, and self” and the holistic connotations of “body, mind, and spirit.”

Thanks to God’s guidance and care, the university has nurtured over 100,000 young students over more than six decades, contributing to the nation, society, and humanity. Now, with a grateful heart, I take on the responsibility of the Director of the Chaplain’s Office. In facing a diverse society, the dual pressures on teachers in teaching and research, the heavy workload of staff, and the multiple pressures on students regarding academics, interpersonal relationships, and post-graduation employment, there is a greater need for spiritual and mental support. I hope that the Chaplain’s Office can become a place where God comforts people’s hearts, vigorously expand campus gospel work, serve in unity with nearby churches, become a platform for spreading the Christian faith, and enhance the Christian spirit of faith, hope, and love among all faculty, staff, and students, thereby achieving the founding ideals and goals of the university.
